DAY 3 - SCENES FROM THE COFFEE SHOP
BELOW: Cindy Coulter has used her computer to discover the magic word that will become the name of their new company, DESTRUDO. Pam Christian listens intently and the girls now face (only) the challenges of acquiring people... explosives... and money.

BELOW: As the camera pulls back, you can see that the lovely restaurant, OVER EASY CAFE is a place where cool people go to relax, enjoy good food, and otherwise chill-out.

BELOW: DESTRUDO has everything - including EXTRAS!. Many thanks to CAROLYN, LINDA and ABEL for lending a perfect ambience to the shots as various people walked in and out of the frame.

BELOW: Cindy Coulter and Pam Christian are joined at the table by Director, Lance Drake who is helping to fine-tune the delivery of the characters in this scene where they cook up the details for their new company.

BELOW: Todd Nickols sits before Pam Christian and Cindy Coulter when he applies for the job of Engineering Manager at DESTRUDO. What you see here is the fact the chairs of the girls are quite a way back from the table. This was done to maximize the opportunity to get the best looking shot.

DAY 2 - SCENE 2
BELOW: Jerry Wellman is seated and helping out with lighting placement. Shalimar Krebs sets up the camera on the dolly that will run the length of the living room - which means the camera can keep the view interesting and ever changing.

BELOW: The actors are in place and SCENE 2, where we first meet ROSEBUD and JANINE at work in their 'office'. Shalimar Krebs rides on a seat on the dolly as Lance gets to push the assembly thru the scene and Jerry Wellman works the microphone boom.

BELOW: Here we see ROSEBUD seated at the computer and JANINE propped up in from of the news on the TV. The PVC pipe the dolly rides on is visible as well as the monitor the crew watches to see what's being captured by the camera.

DAY 1 - SCENE 11
BELOW: Marina Giorgii is the strange and compelling high-priestess FRIEDA from another planet who has powers of personal levitation - she can't really fly - but never wears out the soles of her shoes.
Here we see Todd and Lance providing the movie-magic for FRIEDA as she answers the call to head in and audition for ROGER - played by Todd Nickols.

BELOW: Here we see Jess Kampling - she plays the street urchin, RACHEL MILLER, who has no applicable talents - but has come to audition anyway.
Shalimar Krebs is setting up the camera for the shot where the girls first enter the audio studio.

BELOW: Destrudo Engineering Manager ROGER LUXE runs the audio recording studio and is played byTodd Nickols who, by the way has an extensive background in both photography and recording - not a bad fit, considering.

BELOW: Lance Drake adjusts the mini-flood over Linda Holley. It's amazing how light sets the mood - this shot was made at about 2pm - the window at the other side of the room was draped - and it ends up looking like it could be happening in a cubbyhole with no windows located 12 floors underground.

BELOW: Just to show you how resourceful are movie-makers, consider the fact the glass panel separating the recording room from the studio console area was created by removing and using the movable half of the sliding glass door that led to the porch.

All of the above are just some of the great images captured by Jonathan Whitney on the set of DESTRUDO. Jonathan is a professional photographer of great reknown in the Santa Fe/Albuquerque area who works on many professional projects. His artistic eye and fantastic photo-gear makes for some memorable moments which would otherwise not be captured. |
